A Christian Perspective
"The Bible lays the foundation of all subsequent history by sketching the division of the
human race into its three great families, and describing their earliest migrations." -Thalheimer's
Histories
Doctor R.J. Rushdoony, a renowned Christian
theologian, widely credited as the father of both Christian Reconstruction ism and the modern homeschool movement
(1),
wrote and spoke extensively on the subject of the war against humanism, often in special reference to
education.
In Rushdoony's book Intellectual Schizophrenia (highly recommended), he stated that
"There is no law, no society, no justice, no structure, no design, no meaning apart from God." Applying this belief
to education therefore, he concluded that modern education in the public schools is subject to schizophrenia.
Why? Because the modern textbook must teach a rational subject (such as Math,
Grammar, or History), which has order and rules which do not change; but at the same time the atheistic, humanist,
evolutionist state claims that the world is founded in chaos, and therefore nothing can be completely true or
utterly false.
Written during a time when the United States considered itself to be a Christian
nation, the Eclectic Education Series acknowledges God's influence
over all areas of life, rather than ignoring God and trying to separate the Creator from the Creation.
By using this curriculum, your child can receive an education where God, the
Creator of language, math, and history, was always present in the mind of the author, creating a thought process
that is cohesive with reality, instead of a continual battle with schizophrenia.
A great resource for quality educational books for your homeschool
is the Eclectic Education Series, a collection of books which provided
Americans with some of the best educations in the world, before John Dewey and the demise of
American education. Click Here to learn more.
